My wife and I flew to Manchester a bit over 1 month ago to visit several places that we had never seen together, and mostly ones that neither one of us had been to. We traveled to Leeds, York, Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Chester, and Stoke-On-Trent from Manchester, and had side trips to places like Pateley Bridge, Sherwood Forest, Cadbury World, Rhyl, Betsw-y-Coed, and Macclesfield as well. The Toyota C-HR hybrid that I rented worked well for our 630+ miles of driving and I managed to stay on the proper side of the road for all of them too. If anyone is interested, I have posted some of my photos from the trip, and cars appear in a few of them. But this was not a car museum trip. We mostly we in the downtowns of the cities to see the Christmas Markets, museums, and historical sites. The photos are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/brooklands/albums/72157667244336209

Great shots!
Did you know that the old shopping "mall" in Chester is supposedly the oldest in the world (mall that is)?
We love Yorkshire (my wife was born in Leeds and some best friends live in Harrogate).
We traveled all over Wales, including Betsw-y-Coed (try to get people to pronounce that one correctly). Fascinating slate mines to visit. The last trip to Wales, in 2015, I saw one of the funnier highway signs... see below.
Looks like you had a terrific trip.

Mark,

We saw one of those signs driving from Betws-y-Coed to Stoke-on-Trent, but it was raining pretty hard and a BMW behind me wanted to go 60mph in the rain on a winding road I had never driven before. I finally found a pull off to let him by, but there was no chance for photography during the drive. Our daughter-in-law is a Leeds University grad, and she and my son are currently at her parents home in Rugby while the grand dogs are here with us.

Dave,
My experience was similar... though I did snap a shot (that was poor, so I downloaded the previously posted one). I understand from our Welsh family that badgers have been a real problem on the highways.
On our last trip, we revisited Telford and its Ironbridge Gorge. Perhaps you've been there. Amazing.

Wow, looks like you saw LOT! Thanks for sharing some cool pictures!

Dave, it looks like you had a great trip and saw quite a bit. You have some really good photos too.

Thanks Walter and Basil. I think for me, half of the joy of travel is the photography, and sharing it with others. I have a number of travel albums on my flickr page, plus some video of various trips on YouTube as well. I have not made a video of this last trip yet, it will come hopefully in January or February.
