A problem solved

My Bj8 started popping and backfiring coming down hills. I balanced the carbs and adjusted the mixture with colourtune plugs but it still didn't go away so I tried again. I was poking around for the third time when I noticed that the rubber brake vacuum pipe to the inlet manifold was cracked. New pipe solved the problem. I still haven't satisfactorily balanced the carbs though. I have an instrument to measure the flow and get it nicely set up at 800rpm but when I put the air filters back on it jumps up to 1500rpm and I haven't figured that out yet. I manually adjust it with the pointers in the damper holes at the moment and that seems to work.

Just thought I'd pass my experience along.
