A Post Seal

I have a question on how the A Post seal is mounted. A picture would be awesome if possible. It looks like it can either mount to the finisher piece facin the front of the car or it looks like it can mount on the finisher piece from the side(you would be looking at it from the side of the car). I hope I have made sense on the 2 places that it can mount, of course only one of them is right. Thanks

Hey Jerry,

TRF markets an extra piece of rubber strip moulding that seals the leading edge of the glass perfectly. My camera is out of pocket so I will try to explain. The first piece is a hollow soft rubber sealing moulding that has a base offset to one side. This mounts against the windshield frame with the base offset to the inside, against the fuzzy seal. The second piece is similar but has a base that is more T shaped and mounts against the fuzzy seal. The result is a double seal that perfectly seals from water and wind and the leading edge of the door glass snugs nicely against the the back edge of the front seal and the inside edge of the front of the glass slams or rolls up against the inside piece. Very tight seal that never gets in a bind. I think that stock only had one piece. This extra piece looks like it could be stock and works great. Call TRF and tell them you want the extra upper A post seal.
Hope this all makes sense.

So your saying the fuzzy seal doesn't have a piece of rubber on it? On mine the fuzzy seal runs all the way up to the top cap and it has a rubber seal on it for the whole length. Maybe this is not orignal? Hmmm. However the rubber on the fuzzy seal is torn where the glass touches it. Thanks

Jerry,
Your piece is original. You are referring to the fuzzy seal that runs the full door surround. Bill is talking about the seal that runs 18" or so down the windshield frame and to the body. I'm not certain what the T shaped seal is that he is referring to.
I do remember that several years ago, TRF was unable to buy the original style fuzzy rubber seal and were selling only a fuzzy seal. The T shaped deal may be something that they were selling to make it a working system.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's it! The T-shaped-base rubber is actually part of the fuzzy seal. The extra seal may be original or may not. I do remember that the seal I got from TRF some years ago was non-stock. It may have been that it was just oversized or something. My bad. Paul's photo shows it well.

Bill, I replaced the carpet. It was dusty on the passenger side too.

Thanks for the reminder!
