Cruising through the local Target parking lot today, I spotted something pretty special. And it wasn't the BMW i8 over by the cart return. (Although, that is kind of neat-o, and pretty good looking, unlike an i3, which is kind of neat-o but really goofy looking).
No. it was something older and much more unusual. Something I haven't seen in a long time, an Isuzu Pizza, er..., Piazza, er.... Impulse.
You hardly even saw those when you could get them brand new. But here was one, white, in beautiful condition, with the license plate: IMPULZ.
The owner came out while I was looking it over. She smiled big and said she was always happy when people stopped to look at it. Of course I complimented her on the terrific condition it was in. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it's the best one in the country. She's kept the mileage reasonably low (about 130k, I think), hasn't been a daily driver for a long time. She drives it for fun and occasionally as a back-up.
Turns out she's the original owner. And she worked for Isuzu at the time. Her Husband still works for Isuzu.
I asked how hard it was to get parts these days and she said not much is available any more. She on the other hand has a garage full of parts. When the company was liquidating its inventory her husband scarfed up as many parts as he could get his hands on.
