Well I went out to car to have a look and I still don't know what it is. My wife asked me what I was doing and when I tried to explain, I just got the blank stare...

That blank stare is very common. The only time to worry is when you get that look after UPS or Fed-X makes a delivery to you.

We've worked out an unstated agreement. She doesn't ask about shipments of car parts and I don't ask about shipments of clothes. If frequency is any indication, I think I'm getting the raw end of the deal...

Wouldn't it be funny if his wife found it under the fridge and just threw it on his parts map to drive him nuts.
 
That car is still possessed, so don't be surprised if the story appears in another Crypty diary edition soon......
 
Dale, here's a picture of my sway bar link bushings (rubber ON the link, urethane sitting alone).

Is it possible that the supplier just inadvertently sent you an extra piece?
 
It sure looks like a sway bar link. But you said you put all of yours on. Can we see a picture of the link mounted with bushings?
 
I concur with the sway bar link bushing theory. Here are a couple of pictures of the sway bar link bushings (poly) I just received from BPNW.

Maybe ole Tinster doesn't know poly from rubber.

I am going to end the thread here. I take a bazillio
photos. I tag and/or label every piece I remove from the car
down to cotter pins and lock washers. I place them on a work
board. I do the same with my parts going back into the car work board.

That bushing appeared in no photo I took during this project.
I have three cats and one just adores the car. I conjecture
the cat found that bushing somewhere on the floor and rolled it around and I picked it up..

thick K-Mark black paint.

Dale, based on what I see here, I've decided that my powder coat color scheme will be as follows:

Frame - chassis black (clever, huh?)

Suspension parts (arms, plates, etc.) - silver, except springs (black) and shocks blue front-red rear).

Brake components - backing plates, calipers red. New aluminum drums are naturally silver
