A New Race Video and a Request!

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to use my new Youtube channel not only to share onboard footage as often as I can, but also to help promote the shop a bit and get people interested in vintage racing. I'd love your help if you could watch the video and provide input about if I'm on the right track (hah...). I'm trying to make the video accessible to racing fans and those who aren't as hardcore (at least not yet), as well as try to get the viewer excited about vintage racing. Any other comments would be welcome too!

I like the video and really like your efforts to recruit more enthusiast into vintage racing. Having filmed many of my own races, and experimented with camera placement and editing. I think to pull the viewer in and then push them back into the drivers seat, it's important to capture the motor noise, revs, down shifting, etc. for maximum engagement. I vintage race a '57 100-6 MM, so I'm a little bias. I believe Marc Campfield's run through the entire field at Spa is the benchmark. The motor sound on the big screen is awesome, working his way through the pack, passing every marque imaginable is amazing. This type of race is rare, but when it happens on film it's an instant classic.

Thanks for the input! I totally agree with the noise comment; unfortunately there was a microphone malfunction before this session so I had to use the camera mic, but it does make a big difference. I'll be buying an external stereo mic for future sessions.

That is a great video! Good noise, good track, good field...definitely the trifecta. I have a couple older videos I have to put together which have some more passing, so hopefully those will help on that front.

Overtaking many cars is always good in videos.
For my part I prefer to see the driver working. So I position my camera behind the seat to see my mistakes banned on video for teaching myself what I'm doing wrong.
Noise is also important, not so much for entertaining but to find out any malfunction early enough if possible.
Narration can be a good thing, especially if interesting things are transferred. So you are doing well with your video.
