Has anyone given any thought to a new forum called ..."the clunker corner" or something like that. For those of us that sometimes recoil at shiney paint,who dont mind sharing the cockpit with an occassional mouse.Whose convertible top and side curtains were thrown away years ago. Who are happy with duct tape and rattle can body work. Who think a tach and water/oil gauges are all thats required,anything else is exteranious.A forum for people who believe a yellow/redline on the tach is a suggestion,and mechanical repairs are prioritized by need/safety and not estetics. A forum for those who WILL drive down a gravel road at speed.
It could be a multi-marque Brit forum for like minded drivers who remember the days when these cars were used for sport primarily and show/investment secondly. I think there are others out there who might agree.

Oh, and the mouse with whom I share the car is in too.

I agree with the idea, actually since in the UK such a car is referred to as a "Shed", the forum could be named as such.

Here is a photo of what I am talking about. I have taken it to 3 shows this summer,been driving it to shows like this for over 12 yrs.

HEY!!!! Wait a minute......

You stole a set of TR6 wheels and tires for that car! That car is no longer a real MG.

It's no wonder why you want a new forum. You're driving an early day "Hybrid LBC"

And those cars always win the "Best Un-Restored or Best Potential" awards anyhow.
 
So....... If I open the bonnet of the LBC, I stick my head in & it's looking back at me, that qualifies, right?

Ok, I stuck a crowbar in my wallet a few years back and sprung for a cheap paint job. Found it did increase my enjoyment of the car, so I plan to keep doing that every few years. But I still have no qualms at all about gravel, or even mud for that matter.

One of the best drives I've ever done in the '3 was the old "Ridge Route" that used to link Los Angeles with Bakersfield. Built around 1915, it just followed the mountains with very minimal grading or filling. Lots of steep grades and hairpin turns. It was abandoned before WWII, so you can imagine what condition it was in a few years ago. I got the strangest looks from a passing 4x4 !

Unfortunately, it seems the Ridge Route has been further damaged since then, so I guess I won't be doing that again.

Thank you, Paul! Looks like fun. I peruse all the forums & thought it was high time I joined. Nice, fun, positive threads on all the forums here. I have a buddy in Cumberland with a 1960 TR3 (complete & driveable) & a 1 1/2 E type in a bazillion pieces that I forwarded the URL you supplied, to.

Myself? 1974 MGB, on the road. That's a pretty TR6 you have there.

Is the VOS open to all...I'm not a member of the Cape Cod club...but sounds like a fun run and I think I have free day tomorrow.

Me and the TR6 will be spending some quality time together...somewhere.

My mother used to travel from Bakersfield to Long Beach via the Grapevine and Ridge Route. She always said that they would leave at dawn and didn't arrive in Long Beach until after dark.

Even in the 60s and 70s we called going over highway 99, or later I5 as taking the Ridge Route.

Show up and tell that I sent you. Paul Hinchcliffe is the club president (or El Supremo) as we affectionately refer to him. Berta & Sue are running the event and to the best of my knowledge, we welcome all. I can't imagine anyone in that group turning down a fellow LBC owner.

Please bring your own sandwiches and drinks for the picnic lunch at the winery grounds.

The scenery and road courses are spectacular in that area and the weather should be high 80's, so top down time is here!

Well, if we're back on track...

My car(s) is no trailer queen, but's it's no shed either. My uncle had an old Dodge with a large locking trunk that sat on his street for about 10 years (he kept it licensed so they wouldn't tow it away). I never knew the car to run. It really was his tool shed.

It appears to me that we have a mix of enthusists, between "show" and "driver" quality, but most people on this forum seem to be concerned with actually working on their car. -And I can appreciate that. I don't see a need for another forum, but I'm pretty new and mostly stalk... occasionally I add my 2 cents. (None of my keyboard keys makes cents.)

Try typing 20¢

That would be holding down the "ALT" key and typing 0162 at the same time.

Or for timing questions you can type 12°BTDC

That would be holding down the "ALT" key and typing 0176 at the same time.
