Yes I know it's the MG forum, but I just had to tell my story. I had the extreme privilage of setting in Mr. Healeys personal Rolls Royce Healey! It was purchased by a private party for excess of one million dollars. Only three prototypes were made for international car shows, but the cost was so high, over $20,000 when Healeys were selling for $3,000, they didn't sell. I don't know where the other two are but Mr. Healeys personal car is in North Carolina. The three were widened six inches to absorb the 6cyl. Rolls engine and transmission. I believe the rear is Jaguar. It still has his original English license plate on it. It is slated to go into a museum after final restoration and no one will be allowed to touch it. The feeling of setting where he sat in his personal car was exhilarating to say the least. Photos were taken, but I don't have them yet. PJ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well, If you ever see this one in the real, take a good look in the engine compartment and you'll see why it was widened 6 inches. They had to do that to get the engine and the Rolls transmission in the car. The car doesn't have a Rolls rear, it has a Jag. rear. The car I saw was Donald Healeys personal car and had a stick shift. I understand the two others had auto transmissions in them. PJ

He was never satisfied with his creations, was he? Maybe that's one reason why they're no longer around - the owner didn't even like them!

Prob more like Tony, he made something else from them because he knew he could and as he made the orginial as well it was no big deal.

Many masters are like that, we appreciate their efforts but to them no big deal.
