A little LBC humour

A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage. A fellow came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten for his Mazda Miata.

We all looked at each other in puzzlement, and someone asked, "What is a seven-hundred-ten?"

He replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I have lost it and need a new one.."

He replied that he did not know exactly what it was, but this piece had always been there.

The mechanic gave him a piece of paper and a pen and asked him to draw what the piece looked like. He drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710.

The mechanic then took him over to another car which had its hood up and asked "is there a 710 on this car?" The Miata owner pointed and said, "Of course, its right there."

Just remembered this story: My wife drives the Miata 40 miles to work and when she gets there, she calls and says she had to use the windshield wipers on a sunny day because something like oil was flying up onto the windshield... then I remembered the night before I had topped it up with oil. I ask her, "Is there a filler cap missing?" She replies, "Yes, but I just found it laying loose on top of the engine!" In the end, no more than 4 ounces of synthetic oil spread its way to coat everything under the hood and I still find traces of it a year later. My biggest maintenance/repair blunder ever.

Never leave home without your 710... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Life imitating art, Mark!! Hope no-one took offense, it was all in good fun! I like Miatas as much as the next guy. Just trying to be politically correct... the target group was originally 'blondes'. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Besides, we all know that LBC guys only rag on Miata owners because they're jealous of cars that; start reliably, get good mileage, don't leak on the driveway, have comfy seats and a CD player...

Here's one for ya:
A man is enjoying a Sunday drive when his Sprite splutters to a stop. He pops the hood and is trying to figure the problem when and old chap in a big old classic Jag pulls up and offers him a tow. Turns out they are going the same way so he accepts the offer and they attach the tow rope. The old chap says "If I go too fast just beep your horn", and they set off. A couple miles up the road a classic Ferrari blasts past them, the old chap can't have that, so he drops a couple of gears and speeds off in pursuit. He gets to within a few yards as they tear through a village, barely missing the local vicar.
Caught off guard, the vicar is shaken by his brush with death, he goes into the pub for a double brandy. The barman, seeing how pale he is, asks what happened?
"It was the strangest thing," he says " this classic Ferrari went tearing through the village, with a Jag in hot pursuit, and there was this little Sprite right on his tail, beeping his horn trying to get past..."

Hay, Miss Agatha says she starts reliably, gets great mileage, has comfy seats. No CD player, covers the nice exhaust noise, and yep she does mark her spot but just a drop or two.

She also said that if old dummy would have replaced her oil pump she would run a lot better.

LOL, Pete, that's too much.

Wait, Miata owners change their own oil? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

It's a pain in the rear to change a Miata's oil. I cannot physically touch the oil filter from the top or bottom of the engine (one of only a couple things I don't like about the entire car). I prefer the "remove the right front wheel" method.

If you like driving your LBC, give me 30min and I'll convince you to get a Miata, too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif You just have to set your stereotypes aside.

Truth be told, I love Miatas. I wouldn't mind owning one.

I'll be relocating to the Cincinnati area later this summer. Look me up if you're ever in the area and would like to take it out for a spin. I don't know if the Midget will be on the road until next year, though. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
