Been stumped!

I'm trying to get some cool air to the Holley on my TR8. Currently have this setup, and the two filters are removable. The rectangular housings come off, leaving an oval opening that's 4 3/4" x 2 5/16". The TR8 stock setup has two nozzles located near the headlights to feed the stock carbs that I'd like to use, and can put filters on that end. The nozzles are 2 1/2" round, and I've found some hose (shop vac - perfect size!) that will work, but I need to transition to oval to fit the housing. I've asked the two machine shops in town for help, but they're not interested in fabricating anything. Found a rubber boot at Lowe's that I thought I could make work, but the sizes were wrong.

Any ideas?
 
Mickey- Ya need to find some stock pieces . Ask Tom if his shell has any
 
Just an idea to consider:

Wrap each filter with a piece of tin or aluminum leaving the forward "square" open. Then create a plate with the 2 1/2" opening that will attach to the "front" of the air filter. I couldn't tell exactly the dimensions of that "square" end but I guess it to be about 3"? You could use the current filter cover to hold the shields in place, keeping it from looking messy.

Hope this helps or at least leads to a solution.

Had to read your note a couple times before it registered, but it may be a solution. Only issue would be the filter area might be limited. But it's a good thought...

Not sure what you mean by stock pieces. What I was thinking of was a transition piece from oval to round that could clamp on to the Holley Air Tek housing.
 
Mickey- Thought you were talking about the body pieces for the air intakes.

Mickey, I'm still confused. What end are you needing help with? Does the Holley have round and you need the body section end?
 
Just skip the filters and attach the tops to the housing sans the filter. Make your connetion from there.

You might try going to a comercial roofing supply house and buying a couple of EPDM pipe flashing boots. They look like witches hats. Trim the hat brims off, slid the large end of the boot onto the air cleaner (or housing sans filters)), and cut he\\the excess off. Do the same with the hose, working on the small end of the boot, and you're done (finished).
These boots are very flexible, maybe too much so, but worth a try.

If you look at the picture of the Holley Air Tek I posted in the link above, you'll see where the two rectangular filters are attached, the aluminum housing is oval shaped on each side. I need to find a transition from that to 2 1/2" round for the hose to go up to the front of the engine bay where the stock plastic nozzles are.

I saw some of those at Lowe's and thought about using them. May have another look - thanks!

S-A-L-V-A-G-E Y-A-R-D!!!!!!

Take your measurements & just wander around looking at how some of the newer cars get air to the engine...some of those items could be made to fit with minor mods....& they'd be cheap as they have no resale value.

Not sure those are the proper oval dimensions, anyway, but yeah - the engine can breathe hot air for those prices!

Gonna play around with a couple ideas. If anyone else has some input, let's hear it!

Between a closed cool air configuration and just letting it breathe hot air, how about installing the 2.5" hose so that it blows cooler air onto the filters. Not exactly a cold air system, but better than nothing.
How about using metal dryer vent tubing that could easily be shaped from round to oval.
More if or when it comes to me. Looking for inspiration.

Good thoughts - I actually thought of the first one, and may do that until the proper bits come together...
