Shirley and I are in Gettysbug tonight. Hope to take an early tour tomorow and hn head for Wheeling, WV. Will possibly catch the flight 93 site.
This morning we toured Valley Forge. We felt the program presentation could have been a little mor professional, but the importance of the site is huge and more than made up for it. The photo is the actual house Washinton lived in during the encapment and where he laid out his plans for the crossing. An amazing feeling just being there.
We then went to Roadside America. They have the most incredible modle pike I have ever seen. Shirley enjoyed it too, remember that is our other hobby.
And we got to the Hershy Museum in time to see the museum and take a choclate lab class. Learned a lot about it and even did some hands-on learning.
We re now over 3,000 miles for the trip but will probably fall short of the 4,000 mark.

The last time I was at Hershey Park, I was a junior in high school in 1967. As we walked through the factory the girls working there gave us samples right off the line. You were right down on the floor at that time, but I'll but that the FDA, OSHA and insurance don't allow that anymore.

Tom you were sightseeing right in my neighborhood. I'm just over the (Hershey Hill Climb) hill behind the Hershey Hotel about 4 miles from Chocolate World and the Park. In first grade (1955) I went on a school day trip to visit Roadside America - what an impression it made. Made it a point to take my kids when they were that age and then my grand-kids too.

Today we spent the morning and early afternoon at Gettysburg. We took a tour early and the tour guide was extremely knowlageable. I took a lot of photos and though they are meaningful to me I am not going to show them here, at least for now. Two reasons, one is that without a involved explaination they would not mean anything. The other is that it was a lot to take in and I am not sure how I feel about it let alone how to describe it to you. We are glad we went there and I would like to go back some time in the future.
Tonight we are in Akron. Not going to do anyhing here but sleep and get ready to leave early so we can visit Shirley's Aunt and cousin in Sturgis, MI. From there we will leave for he home stretch on Saturday.
I mentioned to Shirley that she probably had enough riding in the TR6. Her reply,"Where are we going Sunday!"
Sunday or Monday I will add a summary of the trip. Tomorrow is family time and unless something happens that would fit I won't report.
This I will say, we have had an amazing trip.

Thank you for sharing your adventure. What a great trip to take. I would love to do something like that when my husband and I retire or could take that much time off from work. I think the TR4A could handle it.

We arrived back home this after noon after more than 4,000 miles on the road.
Had a couple of unexpected surprises yesterday to cap off our trip.
First was the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Indiana. Thanks Lou Metelko for the idea.
Then we discovered the covered bridge only a few minuted north of Sturgis, MI.
Then we hit the road for home. A great trip and our TR6 ran great all the way.

Here is some account of our trip.
Shirley and I traveled 4,018.5 miles. We left the morning of July 13th without the spare tire and returned the afternoon of July 30th.
We started and ended here in Windsor, Wisconsin.
We traveled through these stated in order;
Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Indiana, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, 15 states in all and some more than once.
We had the opportunity and privilege of meeting many great people along the way including Trevor Jessie, Mickey and Janet Richaud, Wayne and Judy Witgenstein. There were several others that we found were on the route after we had gone through and hope one day we will again get the chance to meet them.
We were in the mountains including the highest point east of the Mississippi. We were on the seashore. We traveled interstate roads. We drove the Tail-of-the-Dragon, the Blue Ridge Park Way, and Skyline Drive. We traveled by ferry and twice by steam locomotive power. We visited National Parks, State Parks, amusement parks, and a wide variety of museums. We visited important historical sites and less important but fun places. We were in a car show and won a second place trophy. We stopped in at Deals Gap, the only car among hundreds of bikes, after running the Dragon with 4 Harleys and found they enjoyed and respected our car and we had several reminders for the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Garmin got us lost a number of times, once by more than 100 miles. But the extra ride was enjoyed. There were times we just turned Garmin off and turned away from the route to explore and that was fun. We once got lost looking for our motel and found ourselves at a Ranger check point for a park. The Ranger said he did not know where we were trying to find but he liked our car.
Our car ran great the entire way and we found that we enjoyed it as much (maybe more) when we returned as when we left.
The three main things we found on the trip;
First, that Shirley and I very much enjoy being with each other even in the close proximity of our TR6 for that amount of time.
Second, the people we met along the way were wonderful, friendly people and reassured us that this is a great country.
Third, this is an absolutely beautiful country.

If you visited the flight 93 crash site, you were close to where I grew up. I have family there, some within a few miles of that site. I have driven my TR6 from Texas to there and loved every second. Now, when I return, my brothers and I go for motorcycle rides, and I can't believe some of the wonderful roads and views around there. Someday I hope to take the TR3 on a similar journey.

It is great to hear that you enjoyed our adventure. We only had a couple close calls and having a small car helped us avoid disaster.
The flight 93 sight had to be cut from our plans. We got late start from Gettysburg and had to make some miles that day. Would have liked to stop though.
I did drive much more conservatively too. And I won't worry you with the one time I turned it loose going up a mountain grade. Was really fun though.
