A letter home

We were going through some old papers, pictures, etc., and ran across a letter that my Father wrote to his mother (we called her Nana) in July 1943 just before he deployed to Europe in WWII. He was probably 18 at the time.

Dad was at Ft Hayes, Columbus Ohio when he wrote this. He mentioned going to see Shep Fields. I was curious as I'd never heard of Shep Fields, but found some YouTube vids.
