A head scratcher

Just returned from the Chattanooga Brit show. What a nice bunch of folks and some really great looking cars. Tony was there but no 63 Midget!

My head scratcher is my Midget runs perfect for about and hour than spitters and sputts with a slightly higher idle. Brand new rebuilt carbs and freshly installed Petronix unit. Im thinking an over heated fuel pump???

If you ever get to Chattanooga drive up Signal Mountian it was made for our cars!

90% of fuel problems are electrical and 90% of electrical problems are fuel related. When you installed the pertronix unit, did you make sure to use a NEW 3 ohm coil? sometimes coils heat up then exhibit symptoms such as these.... did the TACH bounce when the car sputtered? fairly good indication of electrical instead of fuel.

It's a union thing. By contract, British cars get a 15 minute break for every hour driven.

well that explains tommys Moke!

Is your tank vented? could be the pump is pulling a vacume.
Try running with the cap loose? The fast Idle could be it's going lean.
