It the restorer of this seller's car that is enhncing its value and evidently the bidder knows who he is .He is one of the best in spite of what you see going on at BJ auctions. This restorer did a works car that sold at Christies in the UK for close to 1/2 Mil bucks.---Keoke

This is a very nice car. Is it a $75,000 - Gold Level Concours BJ8? Well, maybe in 1995 it was. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

The buyer wants it very badly as he bumped the price from $55k to $75k in one bid. Curious.

it jumped from $55k to $75k to meet the reserve. he did $75 or higher, and when there is a bid that meets or exceeds the reserve, it jumps to that point. just how ebay works.

keoke, please help me out here, the least expensive bj8 ive seen went for $21500.00 and it needed more work the all the others at that time,if you have to put $45000.00 in to it for a complette restoration your up to $66500.00, if you can sell it for $75000.00 your profit margin is $8500.00 for 5-6 months worth of work? my wife would have somthin to say about that!or do they find these cars in barns and buy them for a couple hundred bucks? or perhaps they can do the resto parts and all for 15-20 grand? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

HI Anthony, yes some of the other restorers buy basket cases for little or nothing and they have the capability to transform the car, in a relatively short time, into a concours level product. Their profit has to significantly exceed there normal labor rates plus parts or they would not be at BJs every year.Additionally, it is the paying public that there reputation draws that may offset some of there costs too---Fwiw---Keoke

keoke, thanks for your responce, the car in questions is very well done, and the rep.of the builder preceeds the sale, this much explains why an individual that spends 15-20 thou. on a healey then puts another 40-50 thou. on a resto. can only sell it for 42thou.they must either find themself needing to dump it for what they can get,or the right name is not associated with the rebuild.and if you did in "salerno"what i suspect you did, thanks again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

NO Anthony, I think this seller is riding the BJ wave. He may realize that he can recoup his original costs for this car put some in the bank and replace the car with a similar one at lower cost. Just my hunch.---Keoke

I don't know Anthony, but I just bought a one owner BJ7 a couple of months ago for 7 grand. I had followed this car which has been sitting in a clean dry garage for about 15 yrs. No rust, absolutely undamaged but unique circumstances renders it in need of a complete resto. Paint, interior and chrome. However, it runs and drives like a top. That Help---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

keoke,ya did real good!sounds like mine x three!might start buying em on the left coast.iffin da fires stop burnin!hope ya aint any close to that ! stay safe! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Ebay is not a real auction, prices as bid goes up not verified, bids appear from nowhere as in "chandelier" as with BJ, much smoke and mirrors, dont take it seriously in terms of authentic sale price. TazioN
