A great day for spotting silver Germans

Last Saturday was obviously silver German car day around where I live. Who knew?

These chaps showed up to our local mini cars and coffee. The Carrera GT is jointly owned by a group of guys. I'm not much of a mid-engine exotic guy, but this is one heck of a car. The driver opened it up a bit as he was leaving, what a noise!

As I was leaving, I spotted this 550 (probably a replica) parked just a bit aways. neat

Then driving home I saw this SL on a trailer at a local German car specialist shop. Had to stop and gawk for a bit. Two other cars stopped while I was looking and folks got out to look. First one I've seen that wasn't in a museum.

I have a friend who's cousin collects cars. He bought a Gullwing once, and after having the interior re-upholstered the doors wouldn't shut. The tolerances are so tight on those that the extra thickness of the new leather was too thick to let the doors latch. Had to redo the sills in a thinner leather to remedy it.
