Very good read, thanks for sharing. It's amazing that the technology is only 50 years old...we've come a long way.

We have him to thank for all sorts of practical applications...

And to think that we have Al Gore to thank...

DOC STARTED IT!

uh-huh... sure.

Well I don't know why Kilby got the Nobel Prize. He just reverse-engineered alien technology from the Roswell crash. Do you have to be an Earthling to get the prize?

You laugh, Dave.

We once had an OBNOXIOUS client who was dead serious that his mother had been an "abductee" and HE was the alien spawn... same buffoon was on a constant mission to convince everyone the Apollo landings were a hoax.

He wasn't a client for long. One of the few we ever "fired".

Pretty hard for me to believe...

If he was 1/2 alien...
He should have been more careful about trusting anyone with that information.

Sounds like his father was more like this guy...

Spooky.

Well I thank both Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce for a providing me with an interesting career. The physics, design problems ,manufacturing issues .... basically everything behind modern IC chips is absolutely amazing.

Yea, yea, yea... Nice story. Now, WhatsThatNoise, how do I gets me one of them Rocket Propelled Chainsaws?!?!?!?! hehehehehehehehe.
Seroiusly. that was a neat read. It made me think of that scene in Back To The Future III when the 1955 Doc had to replace the tiny microchip that burned out in the lightning storm with 1955 equivilant pieces. it wound up being a big assembly of tubes and such that took up most of the hood of the DeLorean.

I have a suspicion that those militant arbor day activists have been covertly planting trees at corner exits all around here :yesnod:

That's why I carry one in the Elva at all times

Down here it's hedge rows... do they make a "shotgun" version with a dozen or so mini-saws?

Naaa...

What ya need are eject-able spinner hubcaps...

(You know like those bling ones only sharpened)
