A [FUN !!! ] Thurs. Night LBC Conversion

Well I have to say I had such a blast last night with my neighbour!
This is a younger fellow with a real nice family and is always the first one in our neighborhood to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was the one to help confirm my bad clutch master and helped me bleed off after the repair. This is not the first time that he has come to my aid. The aid does sometimes come with a slightly jaundiced view of the design and construction of the 4A vs "american iron".
I finally convinced him to come for a ride last weekend after taking his two kids for separate spins along with air horn toots! They forced hin into it with "Daddy!! Please take a ride!" Well, his ride seemed to impress him judging by the silence afterwards and yes I did let her "loose" in the curves.
Last night he was outside when I came home from a run and he very shyly asked "Could go for another ride?" I said "Sure, but your driving this time ! " "Do you know how long it's been since I drove a clutch? YA, YA, YA quit your whining"
as we pulled in one hour later with a sh177 eating grin he said "Tom, letting me drive this car was dangerous, I want... NO, I need one ... Whenever I see you driving away you sorta just drive her out quietly. I had absolutely no idea what fun, stickiness and surprising power this baby has. You are very lucky to have it! Can we go out again (soon)?"

That is great. The local college guy who took me for a ride in his white and red TR3 hooked me and that was 50 years ago. I always loved cars and trucks as a little guy, but that was it for me with two seat sports cars.

A few months ago I took my son in law's teenage nephew for his first ride in our TR6. He hasn't been driving very long, so we went to a quiet area with some nice twisty roads. I drove first to demo shifting, handling, etc., then turned the driving over to him. Now, this kid's burning desire is to someday get a new Mustang, and I didn't know if he'd be less than impressed by the Triumph.
After we're tooling along for a few miles, a new Mustang burbles by in the opposite direction. I said, "Hey Ben, That's a nice Mustang." He said, "Yeah, but I like this Triumph better!" Coulda knocked me over with a fender!

Yes, it is a duty for us all to take our friends and neighbours out in our cars to infect them with the TR bug!
I have had two immediate successes and several people now would love a Triumph, but are not in a position to buy one just yet.

My Dad took me for my first ride at the age of 6 yrs in a new yellow 1954 Mg so I was told. Some years later I proudly drove my first Triumph. We were moving 5 cars, two new GT6's and three Spitfires, from one dealership to another. That is how I was introduced to my first LBC. It took some 15 or more years later that I bought my TR6.
