Well folks, I'm offering my experiences on installing a/c in my BJ7. This was a bigger project than I expected....but in fairness, I create alot of my own obstacles by wanting everything...function, style, serviceability, etc.... I don't think it needs to be this hard. Anyway, FWIW this link will get you to the write-up:

The hard part I had with my installation was the beadlock connections on the hoses. I clamped them myself and had two leakers. This required new hoses to be done and 3 times to get the unit charged up. They have a new hose and clamp on the ends now, I would use the new version.
This project is also easier with the front shroud off the car, and the dash out of the car.

I'm flattered you referenced me in the same league as Lin. I've got a ways to go before I take on the projects you Steve, Lin and GregW, the MacGyver's of this forum come up with. You guys think outside the box. When your projects are done, they are well thought out, built like a tank, safe, and blend in as if they were a period option.

I read you entire article. Maybe Mr. Reid will read it too. This would be a nice article for the Healey Marque. Congratulations Steve on a project well done.

Holy Smokes. Beautiful work. Gives me lots of good ideas for when I strip down my BJ8 later this year.... Thank you so much for putting this up. This should definitely go on John Sim's website.

Thank you guys. Lin and Roger, you guys are being too modest...I've seen your work it's superlative. I do appreciate the codos from such an august group....and, I'm already copying things you guys do.

Nicely done Steve. I especially like the heim joint tensioners. Simple, elegant and effective. Much better than a ratchet strap to the garage wall as you tighten the bolts. :laugh:

My problem is I lost the box so I just fake it. I think my mom threw it out during spring cleaning years ago.
