Boy do I miss the sounds of 1940s music ...

And speaking of "Straighten Up and Fly Right", that phrase was popular among the "Tuskegee" airmen. Not just when at the stick, but also in learning how to be officers and "fit in".

Good memories from that.

That song (and many others of the time) was played in my home as a kid. My mother and her two sisters would sing those songs in three part harmony, and it was thrilling to me. Sadly, all the recordings with mom and her sisters have been gone for decades.
 
Our local Jazz station plays big band music on Sunday Nights - A lot of WWII music (and military bands) It is my favourite time of the week to be working on the car in the garage as I love the music and it always feels like I am doing something others have done for a very long time - working with various crooners in the background. BTW I almost always listen to quiet Jazz in the garage as I find Rock n Roll is a little too "frantic" to think and work slowly.
