Ever heard of Robert G. Heft? Me neither, until he passed away and I heard the story on the news this morning. Mr Heft is credited with creating the first 50-star flag, which he designed as a high school project before we had 50 states. President Eisenhower chose his design to replace the 48-star design when we actually had 50 states.

I remember the design was by "someone" in a nearby high school. It was 'buzz' when I was a kid about the age of the lad with the Steelers cap. Didn't know his name tho. Interesting.
