Just approved a new member "FSport" who has listed has his British car a 1958 Meadows FriskySport.

I must confess, I've never heard of such a creature, but they apparently exist:

Fascinating little car. They used the 3 cyl 492cc Excelsior 2-stroke that was developed at Charles Pinter's (of Berkeley "fame") behest which was in turn developed from the 250cc Excelsior motorcycle engine.

The 492 was created by adding another cylinder to the 328cc variant of the Excelsior as used in most Berkeleys. Excelsior patented the 3 cyl as a "modular engine", and with its built up crankshaft theoretically could have expanded it into a 4 or 5 or "n" cylinder engine. (How's that for arcane, useless, knowledge?)

It's a great little microcar - very rare for sure.

Judging where the oil catch is it is indeed British with a rear engine. Neat little car, never heard of it before.

Cool little car.

Looks like the result unholy union of an Amphicar and something French perhaps, cool little car, new to me too, though I have heard of Meadows

photo 2.jpgHi everyone , the picture posted is that of Oliver's Frisky in Germany. Our Frisky was built for the US market and is left hand drive with the detachable tail that was used in the early cars. It was imported by S H Arnolt who had many dealerships in Chicago and Indiana.

Wow. Welcome aboard, FSport!

I'd never known of that, quite the curio.

..How many of those are known to exist?

I was aware of them, never seen one though. This is the microcar side of the hobby coming into the LBC world. This gives "little" a whole new meaning. Usually defined as either less than four wheels, four cylinders and/or 1000cc. (Some say 700cc.) i am on a couple of microcar Yahoo groups because of the Multipla (600cc engine) and have a friend who collects them.

welcome! And very cool car, and, now the Midget feels big. :D

That is Stanley Arnolt who is very famous in helping develop and market the Arnolt-Bristol as well as the Arnolt-MG.

You have a great looking little car!

I love it!!! I wish you could make it to Watkins Glen in 2 weeks for the Vintage fest. I've entered my Bus in the Concorso Speciale, which is the event for all the cool and different cars that really don't fit into any other category. That would be PERFECT for this event. 2 years back I took my VW Type 3 fastback. it was a good fit too.
Glad to have you on board here at the asylum.

Very interesting. Never heard of it. It looks like an amphicar. If you make a forum for him/her, he/she will have to respond to their own thread.
