99 L/H Drive X308 Hood latch Stuck

R/H side hood latch would not open. I read a post that said that there was access to the latch if the inner well plastic shield was removed. There is a square hole seen in the attached photo. A round hole in the inner fender well provided access to the latch. With a flashlight I saw what looked like a common head screw, which I turned CM to release the latch. I removed the underhood trim on the R/H side that has the tool box receptacle. With it removed, I was able to see the cable that came out of a fork on the latch. Latch is secured with two Torx head screws. I reinserted the plastic bushing on the cable into the fork and squeezed the fork slightly with pliers to hold it in place. I had removed the footwell trim on Driver's side to gain access to the latch, but both cables were still in place. I resecured the latch. No further trouble.
