Any input appreciated. I getting ready to change the clutch in my car and was wondering where others got them from and which is better B&B or Q&H? I know B&B is original but moss' pricing seems a bit steep compared to the Q&H alternative. Does anyone know of cheaper sources? minimania and VB seem about as high.

Miss Agatha is running a Moss set I got through Tony. Q&H as I remember.

thanks jack. I had heard there were some fitting issues with the Q&H but chances are that was just someone who installed it wrong. Do you remember about what you paid for it?

oh just found a cheaper one. From BP Northwest. Powertune 3 piece kit for early 948 $176.35. Does anyone know anything about this kit or used it?

I got mine through Tony along with everything else Moss for Miss Agatha.

Only difference that I ever found with 948 pressure plates is that the Spridget is supposed to have the one with 9 springs, the Morris Minor uses the one with 6 springs, more pressure from 9 springs.

Spridget clutches seem to show up on eBay pretty often, good prices. They don't sell easily, so you probably can get one for the starting bid.

Just got finished inspecting the clutch and pressure plate. They seem to be in pretty good shape no scoring etc. Does anyone know about how much material should be on the friction plate ie thickness of each side?

How soon do you want to pull the engine again?
If there is less than 1/16th inch above the rivets on each side then I would say that you have about 3000 safe miles left. If you have less than 1/8" on each side then you have about 6000 safe miles.
How many miles do you drive per year?

Friction plate has about 3/16ths meat above rivet heads. The only thing that seems weird to me are the springs in the middle of they disc. They turn easily. Are they supposed to be stationary ie tight?

sorry to bring this back up but can someone advise me if the springs in the middle of the clutch plate are supposed to be moveable?
