'93 Voyager gauges won't work??

I just bought a '93 Voyager to replace the one that had a dead transmission.
The new one had a factory (?) alarm system in it that went off if you looked at it sideways so I pulled it out- now the gauges won't work and the Chilton's manual doesn't have a diagram for the dash stuff. Everything else works OK.
Anyone know anything about these cars and the wiring to the dash?

a '93 Voyager? you just went crazy with your profits from selling all that MG iron didn't you! Was just burning a hole in your pocket! :jester:

Yep- both that and I need something to haul my LBCs when they don't run (I KNOW that could never happen but just to be on the safe side...)

First thing I'd do is double check where you disconnected all the alarm wires. One of those connections may have left a broken wire or the original circuit may have been made to run through the alarm box instead of being direct like it usually is. next, check all fuses. there's usually a fuse box under the dash, or in the end of the dash/ door jamb, and one under the hood.
I'll see here in a bit if I can get you a wiring diagram.

Not familiar with that thing but the "modern" cars I AM familiar with have floppy film-like printed circuit boards for instrument wiring. I'd look for the power feeds to that. Some gang connector... and a Haynes/Chilton for diagrams an' suchlike.

I have the "big" Chilton's manual but it only gives very basic wiring- nothing for the gauges, electric doors, etc. I thought that it would be a ground issue but found that the ground wire was connected but that didn't help.
I am putting everything back together (including the lousy alarm) to see if I can get everything working and will move this tank on to someone else!

YES! :hammer: Ditch that thing before the transmission fails. What were you thinking!

Is the cooling fan "relay" someplace down behind the front valence? About ten inches below the left headlamp assembly, behind the faux bulkhead?

Be very afraid...

Punt it!!

I had one of those,
Had to sacrafice it to save my brides life.
Everytime she locked it, about 2 in the morning
the alarm would go off, and the windshield wipers would start working
back and forth back and forth back and forth back and forth back and forth.
Then quit for whatever the reason. But always 2 in the morning, like it was possessed.

But then as she was coming home from work one day, this fool in a BMW was racing his buddy, and came around a blind curve and smacked into my bride
head on!

And don't cha know it, she walked away! 110 mph head on impact!
She was doing 35 and they figure he was doing 75.
sure, she was busted up a little, 5 days in the hospital for the broken rims and puncture lung, but he spent 6 weeks in the hospital and 2 years in the pen for driving on a suspended license and racing (he had a previous record).

Well- the gauges work now!
I put that lousy alarm back in (cut the wires to the speaker)and everything works like it should.
Nice with the alarm- if someone tries to start it it won't go but now at least it won't blare all the time.
I like these vans, they get OK gas mileage tow a lot and if you don't thrash the tranny will last 200K miles. My ex burned up 4 transmissions on our new (back then) '89 in 2 years but 3 were covered by warranty, we junked it on the 4th!! She is really hard on cars (as her current husband will attest too!!)
