TR4/4A $90K TR4????

Yes, it's unbelievable, but anyone who owns a TR6, their values have been on the rise as well. Of course it means nothing unless you're selling, but it's kinda nice even if you're not.

Did you notice the 4A intake setup, braided wire harness? This car had to have been owned by someone famous, hard to imagine paying 4 times the normal high car value for a TR4 and not be able to win concours.

If the auction numbers are accurate... I'd speculate the car has a very interesting heritage and/or was restored by one of the really "big names" in the business.

There are a lot more abnormalities than I'd expect an experienced restorer to do... however, strange things might happen if, say, an American muscle car restoration shop that doesn't know a TR4 from a TR4A did the job. Work might be top notch, just incorrect here and there. Heck, maybe they even got all the body panels fitted properly and painted some of the stuff the factory usually missed. If so, points off at concours?

I've been wondering for a bit now, if . . . no, forget it. I cannot afford to be sued.

I agree, there has to be a rat in there somewhere or people are drinking way more than they should. Hemi Cuda convertable for $2,160,000 now a TR4 for $90,000? The newsletter from Haggerety reported B-J auctioned a 1966 VW 21 window Microbus for $48,600. Hmmmm, microbus, ah, smoking dope.

If BIG TR's are going for that how far behind are the LITTLE TR's? Spitfire's & GT's.Whitelightning is Hagerty documented $11,500(with all reciepts)And i won't sell for less than $20,000.Its a buyers market, whomever see's the beauty gets it.In the 4 years of Whitelighning's restoration
she won't be completed until the fat lady angel sings.,She's has already been upgraded 6 or 7 times for the 21st century,Air-shocks,gas bonnet struts,Coker tires,6 speaker stereo,Genuine leather seats, upolstered boot, new high quality paint w/clearcoat,New Smith clock, all new guages, stainless exhaust.,& more of that happens when the weather breaks.....Also send along my blessing to all those that are in the various SPITFIRE restoration phases.Good luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

For the record, I have watched the Healey market closely since the last BJ auction, and guess what, the prices are *exactly* where they were before the auction.

Bill, interesting that the "real" world prices didn't increase. BJ is all "show biz". How long will it last?

I'm sure by next week we'll be seeing $40,000 MGBs from these guys. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

Watch what you say, you are implying that the B-cars are worth less than 1/2 of what our rrummphs are worth?
