Well, the car is a left-hooker, so it is unlikely that it was an original UK car. That is indeed a British registration plate, but that does not mean that it was registered there. The plate is from Birmingham, and was issued between August 1981 and July 1982. It does look familiar, having worked in Birmingham between 1976 and 1983. I think that this particular plate was issued originally.....and you will love this.....to a vehicle owned by the West Midlands Police. The police had blocks of numbers issued, and this either is one of those, or is very, very close to the numbers that the police had.
 
Interesting as well that it appears to have been regisstred as a US car but does not have the distinctive '81 wheel US covers. Too bad he didn't show the engine. Only US cars had the PI and the Canadian and rest of world were left with Strom/SU.

Cna anyone run a carfax on the VIN SATPV4188BA408019 ??

Wonder if it were an "overseas" car bought in Europe and re-imported by someone in the service ....

The UK "West Midlands Police" plate story is bizarre and most intriguing...
 
I love these One Offs. Paretti Imports in New Orleans still has two (2) 76 TR6's and the last of the MGBs. All unregistered, never driven, not for sale. They used to have them out, now in storage. Probably the only ones like them in the world. Old Mr. Paretti was keeping them for his grandkids; they could care less. The chief salesman knows he is sitting on a goldmine. That would almost be worth marrying into the family for. Dream on.
