800 Mile EV Auto Battery

My first British car is long gone. It was a 79 Triumph Spitfire 1500 in #2 brown.

Having mine now pushing 52 years wasn't planned, just ended up that way. But it and I have had fun over the years, drove to college in the 70s, Drove from SW OH to LA when I got out of school the start of the 80s and parked at the edge of the Grand Canyon while headed out and drove back when I came to a job here in OH. People look at me like I'm odd, and almost no one knows what it is when out. And now that I'm retired, will look this year at putting year of manufacture plates on it since OH allows that.

My first British car, bought when I graduated from high school in 1966.

A 1955 Jaguar Mk VII.

Double overhead cam six, racing air cleaner, town air cleaner, racing fuel tank, town fuel tank. Four speed manual, with Borg Warner electric overdrive. And a whopping 8 mpg.

Them wuz the daze. Wish I still had it!

Agreed! Only reason we got it, was to protect me in case of accident. If I were hit by a Greyhound bus, the bus would be totaled, and the Jaguar might have a few dents.

And what I'd see every time I got in to drive:

Later on, traded it for a Plymouth Fury III. I rue the day.

I got the Sunbeam when I was turning 17 and used it my last 2 years of high school. At the time being a rural Ohio kid caught a lot of grief from classmates and such for being the only LBC guy when most I knew had a family pickup or fixed up field car to get around.

Are you saying that the 70's are over? If so, I need to change my calendar.

Depends, you asking about the disco, bell bottoms and phones with wires to the wall 70s, or the "Happy birthday grands, welcome to your 70s" period??....
