TR6 8 Inch Wide Wheels on a TR6???

Greetings all,

Can anyone out here expand on the use of an 8 Inch wide wheel on a TR6. My question has to do with the rear in particular. If the max backspace (4 inch) is maintained, will it actually protrude from the wheel well? Is it possible to expand on the 4 inch backspace to 4.25+ inches? I am having a set of wheels constructed for my project and know that a 7 inch wheel width with the 4 inch backspace will work but really would like to hear from someone who has gone to an 8 inch width wheel.

Thanks,

I have 16x7" with 195/65s. They are wide enough to fill the wells f&r, and far enough in that I get some rub at lock on the fronts.

Given that, I'm fairly sure that 8" will stick waay out. No science, just a swag though. Good luck...

Hi David,

I'm running 17X8" wheels with 245/45R17 tires on my TR4A and I can say that even maintaining the 4" backspace you will have protrusion from the wheelwell. If you go with a narrower tire you MIGHT get away without extending past the fenderwell, but it would be difficult.
