8.5"s of white fluffy stuff...

That was a nightmare.
Between 2am last night (when the power went out....and is still out and not expected to be back until sunday) and 2 hours ago, I've been chopping up three trees that landed in the yard, power pole and all, and one from the driveway just get my family out.
2 hours drive for 35 miles to the in-laws for heat, booze and a warm bed. I'm cream crackered. Glad you're good Janel, heard SW IL & STL got it bad.

Glad you found a place to hole up, Barry. It seems to have pretty much missed my area.
Thanks for taking one for the team! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just think of it as an adventure.

Glad all are ok.

Mother Nature struck out big time here.

So, I'm up in the winter series with her 1-0 right now!

Shush, Rick!!! She'll ~hear~ ya. Then you'll need to be borrowin' Barry's chain saw.

Cold here this morning 40 degrees, who did that? I got to stuff an engine.

Doc....I'm still "developing" my land and don't even have tree number one yet! (And I've got 5 acres.) So the 250' lane drifting shut and loss of electricity are my two biggest concerns. I'm installing a battery operated sump pump as a back up this weekend, so that will allieviate one of those concerns (of the power leaving me and no one at home to start the generator). As for the lane...that's what the tractor, the snow blower, and the 4x4s are there for! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The 6" of snow wasn't a problem, it was the 3" of freezing rain/sleet before it. Used a hammer to dig the van out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
Chainsaw quit after 6 hours solid use, may have been the 97 octane with lead I put in it! Snow blower liked it though!
Still no power, still at the in-laws, sheesh.
40 would be a blessing Jack. What's the housing market like in Niceville?

Tis up to 55 or so here now.

As you can see....I don't have to worry about falling trees yet! Just blowing and drifting snow!

geez. Glad all is settled a bit. Stay warm.

Barry...is the pub that was called Beer Barrel or something like that) still open in Springfield? Got hit by the tornado last year if I recall. I *think* it was on Wabash across the street from an Ace Hardware.

The Barrel Head right? What was left of it got demolished, but they are building a new (bigger) one in the same spot. Good pub that. Wife and I had our first date there.
