While driving my B at about 3500 rpm in 4th grear the tach seems to take off and start swinging back and fourth a 1000 rpm or so. Has anybody seen this? There is also some vibration which I think is the exhaust also at this speed point.

Welcome to the Forum!

Sounds like it may be a loose connection somewhere. This last trip ours swung wildly, then dropped to Zero. I reached under and fiddled with the wires, and it popped back up again.

Mine did the same thing. Replaced the tach and still had the same problem. I finally traced the problem to the conections on the coil. Works great now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When tachs are faulty they drop to the peg and/or fluctuate - they don’t increase in speed.
It’s more likely that the clutch has started to slip and you should be able to hear the increase in engine rpm and that will account also for your vibration.
