MGB '79 MGB engine mount replacement question.

I noticed large cracks on the engine mount brackets - which explained why the cat vibrated against the steering column occasionally. Could anyone tell me if it is possible to replace the engine mounts and brackets with the engine in the car? Does the mount have to come out first to access all the bolts on the bracket or will they come out and go back in as a unit? Thanks.
