Going to buy some new tires, car sits on stock steel wheels, any advice on a nice tire? Does not have to be the redlines.......

I have Kumho tires on my '73; 205/70 R15.
Price was good and they perform/look great.

Oh, but redlines look so RIGHT! Of course they squeal on the lightest of turns, are kinda skinny and are HORRIBLE in the rain...

Aaron, you can get redlines in all types of brands if you pay for it. So your statement is not quite true anymore.

But it absolutely is in regards to the original redlines that came on the TR6. Horrible things. Of course that is in comparison to modern rubber. They weren't as horrible back in the day.

Geez Shawn, I hope nobody is still drivin on factory tires

Don, you're right, let me clarify: Michelin Redlines. I think Coker Tire or the vintage tire vendor in PA offer various brands.

Believe it or not Don, one of our club members was still driving his low mileage 6 on original redlines up to last summer.....

Well Dave, I guess it take all kinds. Don't matter how many miles ,most likely those tires are garbage unless he's driving it off a trailer.

I had Goodyear Assurance 205/70/15's on mine for a year before I went to the 16" and they were great. They still look great sitting in the basement.

Don,

Don't know if you remember the story of "Sticklers Six" on the other forum, that is the car I am talking about. I believe that it had 4500 miles on it from new. As an FYI, the new owner is driving it and racking up the miles. In two weeks time he is on a trip with 30 other TR's including me on a 3 day Trip around Lake Ontario. Should be good for about 700 miles.

Cheers,
Tush

If he want's more. I have tires on mine that were bought in 90-95 sometime with about 3000 miles on em. I'll sell em to him cheap.
