my speedometer pins out whenever the car starts to move and when its sitting still it reads about 30 mph. i took the speedo out of the car and it reads 20 mph by itself .. i dunno if thats normal or not..any suggestions as what the problem might be and how to fix this?

sounds like rebuild time, the bushings are probably wore out on either the speed cup or magnet. Nisonger in New York can help you @www.nisonger.com or find a used one on ebay or at a LBC wrecker.

Nisonger are good people.

You should consider replacing the cable as well. Alot of speedos and tachs have met their death with the cable wind-up-and-sudden-release effect, or WUASRE as it isn't known.

A new cable is good cheap insurance.

BTW I will have a good used speedo for sale in a few weeks.

PM me if you are interested..
