hi all,
i am replacing my rear diff and i am having a hard time getting the two rubber washer that go on the outside of each of the rear ears. there is just no way i can get the diff in with these on the sides. i can get it in without them, but just barely its still very tight. do i need them? they dont seem to serve any purpose. i cant even find these in the parts catalogs to buy new ones- i was just going to re-use the old ones but i cant get the diff in using them. my new diff has all new bushings in the ears and a poly set for the front mount.
thanks just wondering...

I am by far an expert on them but I've torn several of them apart and havn't ever seen any rubber washers that go along with the bushings in the ears of the diff. Doesn't mean that there wern't any ever installed though. I'd say try it without them if you can't get them to fit and see what happens.

Dan, I wouldn't worry about them; just install without them.

The 1500 part catalogue does show these two rubber washers, part# 149648.
