76 Midget Console Wires

I'm installing a radio and putting back the previously removed map light in my Midget. I took the console out over the winter to work on it (being careful to mark all the wires that were being used). Of course I've got extras!!!

The driver (LH) side is all set. The Map light is all set (except for the switches on the doors working, but I can get those I hope). My real problem is with the passenger (RH) side. I've got a double black going to the cig lighter. A solid red and a red/white stripe that I have marked for the cig lighter (1 for the lighter and one for the light I'm guessing). That leaves me with a purple that wasn't being used before and I don't know where it goes to. If it doesn't go anywhere in particular, I'm planing on using it for the continuous feed to the radio for the clock, but if it is supposed to go somewhere, I'd like to know and get it there.

Any ideas?

Common usage and, if I'm reading the diagrams right, the Red/White should go to a panel light. The Red should be tail lights or parking lights. The lighter appears to need only one wire and it should be Brown at the lighter to a 2-way connector with a Brown for the radio then into a Green/Black and into another 2-way connector. The Purple wire probably goes to the interior courtesy light or the brake pressure warning light.

Hope this helps.

Yep. I'd determined the Red/White is for the Cig lighter light. Solid Red was for the Cig Lighter (to only work with the ignition on). I've already got a solid Purple for the switch on the Map light to work with the ignition off. Purple w/ white for the door switches for the map light.

The main power for the radio has a white w/ green.

That leaves me with an extra solid purple. There is no brown wire in the bundle and there is no break pressure warning light in the lower console.

I just don't like having an always "on" wire without something to hook up to. Seems dangerous to me!

Still searching....
