TR6 '74 TR6 Broken speedo cable

Hit some road debris on the freeway and it banged
around the underside of the car. Speedo stops
working and, of course, wire to it under the car is
dangling.

Car seems to run fine, though.

Haven't even inspected what has happened yet because
it is a bit upsetting how it happened.

Think it must have broken somewhere around the
connect on the tranny, ya think?

Maybe this post should be at the pub where I could order
a drink from the bar as well. Got a minute? I'll buy ya
a drink.

If this is a cable driven system and you're lucky then perhaps a poorly connected cable got pulled loose from the gearbox w/o anything breaking.

It would take a lot to actually break the cable and housing, I would expect the (aluminum?) screw fitting that connects to the gearbox to be the weak link that would come loose first. That bit is, of course, renewed when you purchase a new cable.
