Okay. I'm back and in need of some help again.
Had to let the car go for a bit as someone ran into my wife's car and I had to deal with that first.
Let me explain what happened and tell me if you still think it is the ballast resistor.
Car seems to run well for 20-30 miles. I only had the problem when I drove it 70 - 80 miles?
The car quit running, would restart be quit within 2-3 seconds.
I have 14 volts and spark.
I only have the white/yellow wire on the coil. It is good to the solenoid.
From the solenoid to the run terminal on the switch I have 1.6 ohms (the resistance of the ballast)
After sitting for a week or so the car starts and seems to run fine (I bought new resistor from Summit but have not installed it.)
My question is this:
Do any of you believe the resistor could have over heated, opened up, reclosed after sitting?
Do any of you believe it is the Smith's module?
If it is the Smith's module, where is it located? Passenger (right)side near the firewall?
I can fix the problems with the car i just have a problem diagnosing them.
I'm an industrial electro/mechanic - not an auto mechanic so I need your help with this.
Thanks again.
