TR6 '74 - J Drive Transmission install

Still trying to install my new (rebuilt) J Drive transmission. Have a new brass bushing sleeve (Moss) and Koyo throw out bearing (Goodparts). The bushing fit smoothly over the shaft but after the bearing was pressed on, it appears to have compressed and is too tight. The bearing pressed on smoothly with no problem. It will not smoothly rotate and will not travel th length of the shaft. This is the second try with both the original and new bearing. Same situation. Moss also has a metal bushing (original specs) at 1/2 the price of the brass one. Anyone heard of this problem?
Thx,
Will
