I've got a '74-1/2 TR6.It needs some work.The battery's
dead,so I can't start it.I've had it for 10+ years.
I'm thinking about selling it,but is it worth anything?
We're down to 10 vehicles right now,& need to part with some
things.
If I sell it,I'll replace it with another British conv-
ertible.Your thoughts?
 
If a dead battery makes you want to sell the car and buy another one; perhaps you would be better off with something less prone to electrical problems. Like maybe a Miata.

Seriously, not enough information. Why do you want to sell it and buy another one? And how much it is worth will depend heavily on what "needs some work" means. As a buyer, I assume that, if I can't hear it run, it needs major engine work (or the seller would have it running).
 
Doug....Know you have been mulling this one over for a while.
From what I have seen lately....there are a number of really good TR6's around that are priced very reasonably. I have been looking for another project as you know...and found 5 or 6 nice projects that were drivers and very good candidates for restoration...and for $5K or less. Ended up with a very nice project car for $2500. So...in my opinion...it may not be worth a lot at this time. If you were just going to use the funds to buy another LBC you might spend a couple bucks and enjoy the car you have...as you already know it!

Part of me says sell it for what you can get for it.
The other part of me says sell it for a reasonable (?) price.
If I could sell it for $6500,I'd let it go.

You can have mine for $5500 and it runs and drives, doesn't look too bad and has mostly new interior! :thumbsup:

You make me feel better with only the five that I have. :devilgrin:

Joking aside, My vote is to put a battery in it, get it running, sell it for what you can, and move on. Right now the car seems to be a stress for you, and even a modest price for it would go towards other things. One less thing to worry about.

If you really want another British convertible, you might have to sell a couple of your current cars -- but that would be okay too.

Of course, this bit of wisdom comes from a guy who recently solved his lack of space/time/money by buying another car, so as always your mileage may vary.
