TR6 '73 Ignition [IGN] Red Light questions.

It's on the Dash's RPM gauge.

1) Is it normally "ON" while driving or is it telling me something other than the ignition switch is "ON"?
2) Is it also called the "Alternator Warning Light"?

Might need to recalibrate the regulator or replace regularator nside alternator, not hard. Cheaper than new alternator. Check voltage to battery before starting and recheck after a start. Voltmeter needed. If sitting without startingand voltage 12 v , fine, should be 13v-15v while running, that would mean no charge. Probably will not hurt to do a load check on battery, as once started voltage will drop due to high amps to get starter moving. Might have left something out, but sure more will come.

The ignition light on with car running indicates that the alternator is not working correctly or is not connected correctly.

You both were correct in your analysis of my problem. It was the alternator, which had some issues. All is fine and the Red light is off; much appreciated!

Thanks for letting us know.
