Don't know if I am on the correct forum but need help identifying part of my 1958 TR3 engine. The engine is presently being assembled but I found one part i don't recogonize. Even though this is in the 'Humor' section I'll assume you are serious.
Looks about the right shape for an oil filler cap but in the picture I can't tell if the cap is a 1/2", 2" or 12" across. Would also help to see the bottom side.
The "O" seems to be a slightly different size from the 7 & 1. 71 degrees celsius (160 F) is about right for a warm weather thermostat but this is not a tstat and TR did not go to celsius until the TR4.
There is a steel cap on the back end of the starter motor -- about an inch across -- but again can't tell what size this one is.

Fog, great page you have on your TR, that sucks when you get ripped off like that, a similar thing happened to me on my 66 Spitfire.
