TR6 71 TR6 Windshield Replacement

I removed my 71 TR6 windshield in order to replace all the rubber around the glass. Question is: Is reinstalling the windshield a do-it-yourself project or should I hire a windshield installing company to do the job?

If you attempt DIY it's not a one person job.
I recall the glass shop charged 25 or 35 dollars with the understanding that since I supplied the glass and gasket, IF it broke during installation they would not be held responsible.

I'd let them do it; no telling how many they do in a week

In theory it is a DIY project but you may find it is cheap enough to hire it out, that way you don't have to wrassle with it nor take the risk of breaking the glass.

That's what I did -- cost me 40 bucks (but that was 11 years ago).

I ALMOST got my new glass installed.... after the CRACK I called a glass company to do it again. I learned a lesson that day. Don't be like me... let a pro do it!

I've put in several over the years. Last one I did, I did crack it. Recently a friend asked me to help him put his in. After a few minutes of wrestling with it I told him it might be a good idea to have the glass folks do it. They charged him $75 to install. Gone are the $35 days.

I put one in my TR4a (same windshield and frame) no problem, I put one in my TR250 and cracked it in a real bonehead move getting the last bit of rubber in place.

I had a guy install the replacement for the one broke, Safelight franchise, you may have heard their ads, they found one in a regional warehouse, price installed at my home when bought from them was a little over $200 I believe, I don't think the windshields are that much less, when you add shipping, from the usual suspects.

I watched the guy put it in, I would not hesitate to do one myself after noting what I did wrong and he did right, too lazy to go into it all now, but if someone is interested I can type up some tips.
