'71 Midget - what's it worth?

I need to sell my '71 Midget. I have a price in mind, but would like input on what others thinks it is worth. '71 Midget walkaround

Thanks.

I also have an engine and transmission, front fenders, a trunk lid, etc. These will be sold separately.

DarwinT, I own a '74 Midget so I'm familiar with these cars. If it were mine I'd list it on eBay with a reserve at $3,500 maximum and let the auction do its stuff. I think this car may sell on eBay for roughly $4,000-$4,500 (I'm assuming that all systems are functional and there's no rust).

EBay will give you access to the widest sales market and it's fast and easy. Plus, you might get lucky and the eBay auction will turn ino a bidding war. Nice (e.g., rust-free) RWA Midgets are VERY rare, so I'd assume this car will get some serious bids.

I think detailing the engine bay and interior and fixing the radio would significantly help your sales effort. The wire wheels are a plus but the missing heater box, the tatty interior and faulty aftermarket gauges are negatives. All of these may be fixed inexpensively with used parts, and spending money to fix these items would be a good investment, IMHO. The missing top also knocks your value down a bit, but it isn't a deal breaker.

Fitting original, functional gauges may be worth the effort (used ones are easy to find and fit). And, purists like the original SU HS2s, you might consider putting them back on if you have them.

Sorry you have to part with your Midget, good luck with the sale.

And, don't forget to list the car here on the BCF Classifieds. It's a good sales venue! :yesnod:
