If you could post a picture that would be great.

Thanks.

cjm's photos show exactly where that support bracket goes. It runs from the steering wheel support bracket and attaches to the extra piece of metal that hangs below the center part of the dash. But I don't see that piece on your photo JP.

Maybe its just the angle of your picture, but it looks like that extra piece is missing? That would be a problem, since that also ties in to the fascia support bracket that braces the dash center to the floor. The center fascia support ties everything together (i.e. supports the dash to the floor, and through that angled rod also stiffens the dash center and the steering wheel bracket).

The radio mounting bolts also go through the holes that cjm's photo shows.

If you look in the header bar for each individual post, you will see a highlighted ' attachment '. Select that highlighted item to see the attached photo.

OK. I see now. I think maybe I am missing a piece, which would explain why the PO did not have it attached to anything and why I could not find a place to connect it that made sense to me. BTW, my center dash support was not secured to the dash when I took it out.

Is it possible to find one of these pieces or am I better off fabricating one?

After taking another look I discovered the piece is there but someone has bent it up and back.

That looks like the one.

I don't understand why someone would bend it up, because that attaches to the vertical dash support that straddles the transmission tunnel. Bending it back down is going to be a challenge, as I recall that's a fairly hefty piece of steel.

As it turned out it was pretty easy bending this piece back where it belongs. I may have to adjust it a bit when I reinstall the dash support though.
