I finally got around to reinstalling the front emblem on my grill. My car was originally missing part of the grill and emblem, so I picked one up fairly cheap on Ebay. I mention this because I don't know if these varied from year to year. My problem is that after putting in a new center screw, it seems sort of wobbly still. It almost seems like it should have two rubber inserts on the grooved part that goes against the grill. Am I missing parts?

I recently took mine off and there was no rubber grommet on ether end. However mine had been gone through before so not a good example. Looking in Moss and TRF catalogs there is no rubber grommet. The only difference I know of in the emblems is the black in early ones were cloisonne and the later ones were stickers (after 1974). You might be able to add a few extra washers behind the bolt head to pull it away from the threaded boss. The bolt might be a hair too long and is bottoming out not letting you tighten up the badge to the grille.
