'69 Sprite Windscreen assembly restoration help.

Hey folks,

I just pulled the windscreen off the wife's '69 Sprite. Since I can't find my posidrive tools I'm sitting here trying to look up replacement parts so that the evening's not completely wasted.

The issue I'm facing is that the usual suspects don't carry, nor can I find the specs on the multitude of small rivets all over the assembly (Moss says there's 34 of them, but lists them as N/A).

The rivets are all rust covered and crappy looking. Some of the riveted bits are also broken, so will need replacing. Does anyone have a source for these rivets, or can tell me what size/type they are so I can find them?

Thanks!
Jody

Jody, I am not sure what size they are but https://www.spaenaur.com/ has everything. If you can get me one (or we can figure out the dimensions) I would be happy to pick some up for you. They do sell in small quantities. (My daughter goes to school in the town where they are located so I am there regularly)

Re Posi Drive Bits. I was able to find Posi Drive Bits in one of those 100 different screw driver accessory kits, $14.95 at Ace Hardware. Don't try taking apart without the correct bit. PB Blast and let soak for a while. I was able to take apart the windshield on my '68 by undoing the screws and taking the side piece off. Sure made replacing the seal to the cowl easy, easy, easy. All went back together with new SS Screws from local "good hardware store." Not one of the Big Box Hardware stores.

PS Screws on door hinges are PosiDrive Bits as well. Those aren't Phillips in there.

Jim,

I picked up a nice Posidrive screwdriver set by Gearwrench off of Amazon. Here in Phoenix Amazon's almost as fast as going to the store. I like them so far, they've got comfortable handles and they look like they'll last a while.

Of course, now that I bought new ones I'll find my old ones.
