Just got offered a 69 Mark IV kind of locally. Been in storage for about eight years. Good paint, all original. Runs and drives well....top and interior good but carpets are worn. Tires good, brakes and lots of other mech. stuff all done. Good glass, lots of spare parts and bumpers all good..need to let guy know asap...have truck and trailer ready ro cruise...PLEASE give me some idea as I'm flying blind on this....Thx. Jack

This is a desert car...lived its whole life in ew Mexico....NO rust...ever. Never hit or wrecked, has never been cursed with bondo.

It's still likely to need work to Master Cylinder and Brakes if it has sat for 8 years. Here's a like to current Auctions going on right now.

Likely $2k - $3k max. assuming running and driver

I agree, it will likely need a front suspension rebuild as well.

After it was pulled from storage the brakes...everything...were replaced. Had been started from time to time while parked..real nice paint and chrome..

Yup, like Trevor said... budget about $1k for a front end rebuild, if it hasn't already been done (less if you do all your own work.) Viewed from the front, do the tires look like this? /---\ Jack up the front and give the wheel a good shake at 12 and 6 o'clock. Wear on the inside treads of the front wheels are also a good indication.

Carpets are about $150 on ebay... fairly easy to install yourself if you're not *very* picky.

Assuming it doesn't need any paintwork at all, I'd ballpark $3k. (It'd be more up here, but that's the market.)

So, what does he say he wants for it. Always let the seller fo first unless you are going to low ball it like 2K.

He said he'd take $2500 or let it sit till it sells for what he's asking...its not far...about 300miles r/t...so it may be worth the jaunt.

At $2500 if it really is that clean, it's probably worth it. I'd pay that much for one if it was drivable. Not much room in these cars if you're looking to clean/rebuild and flip -- the square bodied Spridgets just don't have much room to grow for the most part. Nice driving cars, though.

At $2500 there's not much room for you to flip it & make a profit!

I may have missed it but don't know if the plan is to "flip it" or enjoy it, it sounds like a very nice car, rust free original, that would not need a lot to make into a really exceptional car, if it has original paint and it looks decent so much the better, has gotten so there are so many restored and refurbished cars out there is great to see good survivors now and then.

I think it sound like a pretty good deal.

Take 2K in hundred dollar bills.

Jack, yes that is very good advice, anyone who has tried to sell a few cars has gone through the experience of, "I can get the money" "I will be back in a few days with the money" "I need to talk to my bank" "I need to talk to my wife"

etc. etc., the odds are usually worse than 50/50 that you ever hear from the guy again. So cash in had can be a good peruader and negotiating tool, as well as keeping you from going over your own price limit for the car.

Actually, a 1969 MG Midget isn't a MkIV - its a MkIII....a '69 AH Sprite is a MkIV.
