$69,000 .... for a Toyota Pickup?

I was looking on craigslist,& came accross
this post.The guy wants to sell his 4wd Tundra that
he paid almost $70,000 for.
How could anyone spend that kind of money on
a pickup?I also saw a posting for a 2006 Ford crewcab
that the seller had $80,000 invested in.I don't get it.

Not by the time you add all the toys. Heated/cooled leather seats, Nav, bluetooth, backup camera, active suspension, off-road package, rear seat entertainment, power sunroof and rear window.... I saw several come through the dealer with a sticker tickling 70K
It's more like a Limo with a large cargo area.
I don't think people remember what trucks were meant for....

I see a lot of young kids driving around in a full sized,
crewcab,diesel,4wd pickup (usually empty,with just a driver).When
they do haul something,it's usually a Honda,Yamaha,etc.4 wheeler,
something that could easily be hauled around in a Ford Ranger 2wd.
I would much rather drive a smaller pickup - that's why I
bought a Dodge Dakota.

I bought a 2010 Ford F-150 new in April 2010.

It listed at a little over $50k.

I got a Friends & Family discount that took it down to Dealer Invoice, then added several more thousand in Factory Rebates...this took my final cost, including tax, title, and registration to below $38k.

The new Chevy Express I bought in '09 was about $21,500.

Not fancy: very basic but very functional. It has power steering, 4-wheel disk ABS-power brakes, air-conditioning and a radio.
We've driven it 10 hours, no problem. Linda doesn't exactly <span style="text-decoration: underline">like</span> driving it, but she can manage it no problem.
Right now it's filled with spare parts, race tires, tools, etc. And the trailer is hooked up (we're heading for the PVGP in two days).
Our's is a 4.3 V6. Will get about 15 mpg towing race-Sprite. Otherwise, it can easily get 18 mpg.

Some people drive Chevys, Fords, etc and some drive Jags and Mercedes. It all depends on how many jingles you have in your pocket and how willing you are to let some of them back in circulation. Can't take it with you, make someone happy, it might be YOU! Spend it before the moths get it!

Just for fun, I did the build-your-own feature this morning and I got up to $59,228 when I included every bell and chrome plated whistle possible. That's for the F-150 Platinum with a base price of $44,635.

There is a Harley-Davidson model that starts at $49,030.

I do use my truck to tow (periodically), and use it as my everyday transportation from November through April.

I live in the country - the possibility of getting snowed in is good. I have 4x4.

I also use the cargo bed....a lot.

I have a son in a wheelchair...so Jean drives a GMC Envoy Denali and I have the F150 - in order to transport he and his chair easily.

I also find the F150 to be a VERY comfortable vehicle to drive.

I replaced my 2004 F-150 Heritage with this Lariat.

Did I really NEED to do this? No. Did I want to do this? Yes.

And I bought Ford because it is American made...without using American taxpayer dollars.

I don't believe the F-150 is big. I believe that it is the biggest truck the average citizen needs. When normal people ride around in 250/2500, 350/3500 duallies, that's excessive. A 150/1500 is a perfect family vehicle for anyone, and I believe that every family should own a pickup that's either a I4, V/I6, or a smaller V8. 4WD is a given, because I don't see the point of a RWD or FWD truck, since a truck is supposed to go anywhere and do anything. I grew up in a truck family, and the only time I saw a car on the lawn was when I began driving. Trucks are perfect for families, especially the 4 door Tacoma and F-150.

A V8 4WD XL regular cab F-150 is one of the cars I am considering to replace my Jag for my daily driver after I graduate college.

We used to joke about going to any mall in Az and removing the front driveshaft out of all the Trucks/SUVs and leaving a note with an email address to get it back where it had once been. The likelihood being that we'd never receive a single email because not one of them would notice it was missing. Don't need 4x4 to go to Dillards.

I was referring to to the idiots who buy anF250/F350 crewcab diesel,
& then HAVE to add a lift kit,just to drive to work,or hual a Honda/Yamaha,
etc. four wheeler.
If you're offended,then your guilty of being wastefull.Otherwise -
more power to you.You are very fortunate to have the means to afford a new
truck.I can't,& don't think that I would,even if I could.
I don't have a lot of money,& unfortunaly have to try to live within
my means.You are VERY fortunate to have the option to buy such a vehicle.
This is not meant as a put-down,I'm just stating the facts.I may have to sell one of my British cars,just to stay afloat.
