68 Sprite followed me home....

Literally, I used a tow bar and brought it home with me. I'm the proud new owner of a 68 sprite. I picked it up for very little money and it has some really good parts. At first I thought about using it as a donor for my 62 that is just getting started. Instead, I'm going to use this baby that I got for a few hundred to do my learning on. I've never done filler work, so here's my chance to learn. Most, if not all but some on surface, of the rust has already been removed. What's left needs smoothed over and straightned with filler. Then I'll try my hand at painting...hey, what's to lose. The engine and tranny work already, so that's a plus. Smokes a little for about 30seconds, but starts right up. All of the glass for windshields is good. I think the hard part is going to be figuring out what little bolt, piece goes where. I have a bunch of boxes. Then, it'll be hard to find the right bolt to use. Anyways, I took some pictures, so if I can figure out how to post I will.

Awesome! A practice car. If it only smokes on start up, then it is most likely a problem with the valves seals. Do you have a compression gauge?

Drew, a wonderful choice to start with. There are enough of us here that have rebuilt these things from the ground up to get you through the project.
As Trevor has said, if it only smokes on initial startup, it's probably valve seals. Nothing to worry about at all.
Have fun, and keep us updated.

Good pics, good project!

It must be that kind of day, I inherited a 74 MGB that I don't want. And tomorrow I pick up a 71 Midget and not to mention the 70 Midget I picked up last week.
Way too many cars all of a sudden.
At least I already gave the MGB away and sold the 70 Midget after I paint it.
