68 Flashers

no no no....I'm not 68 years old running around naked!

Does anyone know if the 68 sprite has 1 or 2 flasher units? I see the one 3 prong one attached to the hazard switch. All of my signals/lights light up now, but don't blink. What is that thing mounted under the dash towards passenger side? Is that another flasher of the bi-metal thing(whatever that does...I know it has light green/green and black wires coming from it). This wiring is crazy!!!

Thanks - Drew

Drew, that's the turn signal flasher. Two terminals for the signals, and a 3 terminal unit for the hazards. Must be a late '68.

So, where would that bi-metal regulator be located then? There is another unknown device to me. It is on the engine side of the firewall, passenger side and there are two wires going to it. Any ideas what this is?

Thanks again - Drew

On my '68 I replaced that can with a generic flasher unit and everything started flashing. I think that one flasher controls both turn signals and emergency flashers.

Yeah on second thought there was another flasher under the dash. I can hear it click on/off. If you get stuck I can look at the schematic. Generic flasher was < $10.00 as I recall.

Well, there was one flasher for the hazard lights and another, mounted on the engine side of the firewall on the passenger side. The thing under the dash is the bi-metal guage. I picked up a generic 2 and 3 prong flasher and they were like $3.50 each. Works fine now.

Another job well done by the Spridget men in action. Movie to be released next month.
